Meet the most famous ranger.
Aragorn II also known as Strider is a Dúnedain Ranger. The Dúnedain represent the last of the “great men of the west”. The last vestiges of the once united kingdom of men. Strider is greatly familiar with the wilds of the west from his time with both the Elves of Rivendell and his time as a ranger. He is the 16th Chieftain of the Dúnedain which is a result of his lineage.
Strider looks much younger than he really is due to his Númenor and Elvish ancestry. Tolkien gives a brief but detailed description of him in The Lord of the Rings: lean, dark, tall, with “a shaggy head of dark hair flecked with grey, and in a pale stern face a pair of keen grey eyes. He always has a calm almost melancholy demeanor this is probably a result of being someone accustom to being solitary in the wilds. He embodies everything we have come to associate with rangers, he great with a sword and bow, great at tracking and moving around without being seen.
